How to Play Roulette

Roulette is one of the simplest casino games to learn. It’s fun, easy to learn, and has great payouts so its no wonder that roulette is one of the most popular games around the globe. It is important to remember, though, that there are three different versions of the game so make sure you know which version you are playing at a casino because the odds and payouts will differ.

Once you’ve purchased your chips from the dealer, also known as a croupier, you need to decide which bets to wager on. Players have the option of betting on a color, number, odds or a group of numbers. A felt covered table is located next to the roulette wheel with all of the various betting choices displayed on it.

To bet, simply place your chips on the your chosen picks. There is no limit to how many different bets you can wager on. Bets can be placed even after the wheel is spinning, up until the point when the dealer says, “No more bets.” The dealer will spin the wheel; the ball will circle in the opposite direction and will finally land on one of the slots.

One of the main differences in the types of roulette games are the amount of possibilities for the ball to land in. In American roulette there are 38 possible options for the ball to land on. In the French and British version there are 37 possible outcomes, which makes these two versions have better odds than their American counterpart.

Straight bets, when a player wagers on a single number, are the highest odds, with a payout of 35:1. The table layout in roulette is very simple and a player can almost figure out the bets with common sense. There are two sections marked ‘odds’ and ‘evens’, placing a wager on these options allow a player to bet on the possibility of an odd or an even number being the winner. The other betting options are similarly marked.

Due to the high element of chance in roulette, there aren’t many strategies to learn. Just keep in mind that roulette is one of the most social casino games, there is a high likelihood that you won’t be the only player at the table. If you like the crowds and enthusiastic groups, roulette is definitely a game for you. Now you’re ready to hit the casinos and start playing.
